Northern Lights Drone Shows - June 12, 2025
Milwaukee, WI
On June 12, 2025, Northern Lights Drone Shows transformed the sky above the American Family Insurance Amphitheater into a luminous celebration of identity, values, and hometown pride for Baird Financial Services.
For Baird Reunion, the objective was clear: create a memorable nighttime finale for employees that went far beyond standard entertainment. With 500 drones and a fully custom storyboard, our team delivered a 13-minute, 50-second aerial performance that told Baird’s story in a way fireworks simply could not—through logos, symbols, brand colors, and meaningful visuals unique to the company. The result was a unifying, high-impact corporate drone show in Milwaukee that employees loved, and one that even caught the attention of drivers on the nearby freeway.
Design
The show opened with a vivid depiction of fireworks rendered in Baird’s company colors: blue, white, and gold. It was an eye-catching way to begin, immediately setting a festive tone while reinforcing the client’s brand palette.
From there, the 500-drone sequence unfolded as a branded narrative. The drones formed the Baird logo and the company’s founding date, grounding the show in the firm’s long-standing history. The story then moved into financial symbolism with a bear and a bull, visually representing bearish and bullish markets, a fitting reference for a financial services company.
The middle portion of the show focused on values and relationships. A handshake coming together symbolized trust and partnership. A heart with a hand and a unity circle of people reinforced Baird’s corporate values and the spirit of the reunion itself.
One of the most regionally resonant moments came through the “reunion arrow” sequence: an arrow followed by a line of dots that morphed into a pinpoint on a map of Milwaukee. This visual linked the event directly to place, people, and purpose, reminding attendees that Baird’s story is deeply connected to the city.
The show also featured the Baird company mascot, a moment that added personality and delight to the performance. It concluded with a warm “thank you” message that transitioned into “We are Baird,” ending the evening on a strong note of unity.
All of this was set to non-copyrighted stock music, carefully selected to support the pacing and emotional arc of the show.
Mission
Baird wanted an engaging close to its corporate event, something celebratory, meaningful, and unmistakably its own. The theme centered on the company’s journey and identity, captured in a simple but powerful creative premise: This is who we are. This is where we are. This is what we do. These are our values.
That mission made drones the ideal choice. Unlike fireworks, a drone light show could visually express the full Baird story, including:
The company logo
Its founding date
Its mascot
Financial market symbolism like the bear and bull
Core values such as unity, trust, and connection
A specific geographic nod to Milwaukee
For a company gathering centered on reunion and shared purpose, custom visual storytelling mattered. Baird wanted employees to feel celebrated, connected, and proud—and the sky became the canvas for that message.
Execution
This was more than a drone show, it was an orchestrated brand experience. Every formation was designed to move with clarity and precision, allowing employees to instantly recognize familiar symbols and connect them to the company’s story.
Because the audience consisted of Baird workers and employees gathered for a corporate celebration, the emotional tone mattered as much as the technical delivery. The performance needed to feel polished and spectacular, but also personal. It did exactly that.
Attendees responded with visible enthusiasm. Employees were seen enjoying the show and, in some moments, even mimicking the dancing motions of the visuals in the sky. That kind of reaction is one of the clearest signs of a successful corporate drone event: the audience is not just watching, it is engaging.

Challenges
Flying at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater presented two major operational challenges:
Safely clearing the large amphitheater structure
Maintaining a strict flight boundary away from the adjacent active freeway
The venue required the drones to fly directly over a substantial building while operating beside a major traffic corridor. That meant the safety plan had to be exceptionally precise, particularly with altitude planning and geo-boundary mapping.
The primary compliance focus was ensuring the drones would never drift over the nearby freeway. To address this, our team conducted detailed mapping and strictly double-checked the flight zone in advance. We also increased the initial launch height so the drones could safely climb and clear the building before forming the first image.
Preparation was key. The launch event was set up further in advance than usual, giving the team additional time to verify boundaries, staging, and sequence transitions. The result was a smooth, safe operation in a uniquely demanding venue.
Impact
While official attendance figures were not provided, the audience consisted of Baird employees attending the reunion, and the show delivered exactly what it was meant to: a great way to end the night.
The response extended beyond the amphitheater as well. A commuter driving on the freeway filmed the show and later posted about it on Reddit, asking what the event was. That kind of spontaneous public curiosity is a powerful indicator of visibility and intrigue, especially in a high-traffic urban setting.
Additional impact highlights included:
Strong audience enjoyment on-site
Employee participation and physical engagement during the show
Attendee-recorded videos shared after the event
Drone company footage captured for future promotion
Organic public attention from outside the venue
The team did not review every outside platform, such as YouTube, so total digital reach remains unquantified. Likewise, the designer was unsure whether this specific event directly generated referrals. Still, the visible audience response and off-site attention show that the performance made a meaningful impression.
A Milwaukee Story in the Sky
This event felt especially at home in Milwaukee. Hosted at the iconic American Family Insurance Amphitheater on the Summerfest Grounds, the show tied together a respected local company, a landmark venue, and a skyline moment visible even beyond the event itself.
Northern Lights Drone Shows has now helped illuminate multiple corporate events in the region, including work connected to Northwestern Mutual and a 500-drone show for Timberwolf Excavating. We are also currently developing new corporate drone shows for an HVAC supply company and a consulting company, continuing to expand what branded drone entertainment can do for business events.
Lessons for Event Planners
One practical takeaway from this project is the importance of clear production timelines. Baird was highly involved in the storyboard, which helped shape a show that truly reflected the brand. At the same time, later-than-expected revisions created additional pressure in the creative process.
For future projects, it helps to establish:
Firm storyboard review deadlines
Clear sign-off milestones
Defined windows for revision rounds
That structure keeps production moving efficiently while still giving clients a meaningful role in the creative process.
Why Drones Were the Right Fit
For Baird, the decision to choose drones over fireworks was strategic as well as creative.
Fireworks can create excitement, but they cannot tell a customized corporate story. Drones can.
This show demonstrated that advantage clearly by presenting visuals that would be impossible with traditional pyrotechnics, including:
Baird’s logo
The company founding date
The mascot
The bear and bull market symbols
A map pinpointing Milwaukee
Values-driven imagery centered on trust and unity
That ability to merge spectacle with messaging is what makes drone shows such a powerful tool for corporate events. For brands that want more than generic entertainment, aerial storytelling creates a deeper connection.
